Short version
Your voice and your notes stay on your iPhone. We don't have a server that listens to you. We don't sell your data. We don't have your data to sell.
What we collect
Car Notes does not collect personal data on our servers. Specifically:
- Speech recognition: happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device recognizer.
- Note content: stored locally in SwiftData. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple syncs the data via your private iCloud database (end-to-end encrypted by Apple).
- Location: only collected if you opt into location tagging in Settings. Stored locally with the note.
- Analytics: the marketing website uses Vercel Analytics (privacy-respecting, no cookies, no personal IDs). The app itself sends no analytics.
AI Cleanup
If you tap "AI Cleanup" on a note, the text (not audio) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for one-time processing. The result is returned and saved locally. We don't store the request server-side. See Anthropic's privacy policy for their handling.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple via StoreKit 2. We never see your credit card or payment information.
